Ambassador Mr Jean-François Fitou meets local media organisations

French Ambassador to Fiji His Excellency Jean-François Fitou today met with various media organisations such as Communications Fiji Limited, Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, Fiji Sun, Fiji Times, Fiji Live and Fiji One News to introduce himself and also outline his focus while serving as the French Ambassador to Fiji.

Mr Fitou says his focus is strengthening alliances against the global crisis being climate change.

He says during the UN General Assembly this year, French President Emmanuel Macron said that there should be enough talking and more actions taken.

Mr Fitou adds everyone needs to do more and big countries must listen to what Fiji and other Pacific Island countries are saying as they are the ones being threatened by it.

The Ambassador mentions that countries need to work together to preserve planet earth and make it safer now and for the future generations.

Mr Fitou adds his second focus is trying to understand each other better meaning France and the Pacific Island countries as there are a lot of commonalities.

His Excellency says his third focus will be on cultural exchanges, whether it be through art, rugby or any other exchanges between the countries.

The Press Conference was also a chance to introduce Ms Rose Wete, the first Official Representative of New Caledonia to Fiji.

Ms Wete revelead that they hope to organise the 2nd edition of the Fiji - New Caledonia Business Forum. However this time around to have the Forum in New Caledonia and have their Fijian colleagues travel to the French territory.

Alliance Française Director Thomas Feldstein was also present, and mentioned that they are preparing for their biggest Art Exhibition this Thursday called TAA by Stéphane Fougaud.
