Letter from Mr. Laurent Fabius, Foreign Affairs Minister of France,
to Hon. Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Foreign Affairs Minister of Fiji
(The original is in French. This is an unofficial translation)
On the occasion of your appointment as head of Fiji’s diplomacy, I extend my sincere congratulations and wishes of success in your work.
France and Fiji are two Pacific countries bound by historical and cultural ties. I know the commitment of your country in peace, through its participation in the UN peacekeeping operations. Fiji also plays an important role in mobilizing the international community that faces the challenge of climate change, which particularly threatens Pacific island states. I wish to work closely with you in the context of the Paris Conference Climate 2015 (COP 21) to achieve a universal, binding and ambitious agreement.
In renewing my best wishes of success on your position, please accept Sir, the assurance of my highest consideration.
Signed: Laurent Fabius
