French Government hands humanitarian aid to Fijian Government

The French Government has handed over to the Fijian Government the much needed supplies to those who were badly affected by the recent Tropical Cyclone Harold.

French Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Jean-François Fitou confirmed that on Monday, a return flight from Nouméa, New Caledonia had brought over 5tons of humanitarian help from France.

Fitou says the humanitarian help included 100 family kits which consisted of 100 tents (16square meters each), 100 kitchen sets, 100 shelter kits and 200 x 20litres jerry cans.

He says this has been well received by the Fijian Government.

Fitou hopes this could help various families who have been affected by TC Harold given that a state of natural disaster has been declared in some parts of Fiji.

He reiterates that we were also able to repatriate four Fijian national who were stuck in New Caledonia free of charge.

The Ambassador adds that the French Government is always willing to help Fiji, as the country continues to the fight the Covid-19 pandemic together with helping Fijians get back on their feet after TC Harold.
