The Ambassador, Jean-François Fitou

Mr Jean-François Fitou was appointed Ambassador of France to Fiji, in residence in Suva on 1st October 2019.

The Embassy of France in Suva also has accreditation for Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga and Tuvalu.

Prior to Mr Jean-François Fitou’s appointment he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Pristina, Kosovo from 2010 till 2012.

He held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France and was also the Director of the French Cooperation Office in Pyongyang, in North Korea from 2015 to August 2019.

In 2007 to 2009 Mr Fitou was the first Counsellor at the Embassy of France in Kabul.

Mr Fitou holds a Diploma of the Institute of Political Science of Toulouse, a Diploma of advanced studies in History, a Diploma of History Professor and an Alumnus of the National School of Administration ("Léon Gambetta" Class of 1993).

His Excellency speaks French, English, Italian, Spanish, Catalan and Russian.
