The French Development Agency (AFD) has signed the LGBT+ commitment charter of the association L’Autre Cercle

On June 20, 2022, the French Development Agency (AFD) signed the LGBT+ commitment charter of the association L’Autre Cercle, which aims to ensure the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people in their professional environment.

The AFD is committed to creating an inclusive environment for LGBT+ employees and to ensuring equal rights and treatment for all employees regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity. It will also support employees who are victims of discriminatory comments or acts, and will measure progress and share good practices to improve the general working environment.

The AFD promotes strong principles of equal opportunity, anti-discrimination and diversity. This signature is in line with the French Development Agency’s commitments to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The AFD has obtained the Diversity and Professional Equality labels from Afnor Certification.

This was preceded by the collective work of a working group to build an action plan for better inclusion of LGBT+ people at the AFD. Parenthood, expatriation, LGBT-phobia and visibility are the main themes of this plan.

L’Autre Cercle:
As an association created in 1997, L’Autre Cercle is the French reference for the inclusion of LGBT+ people at work. Its values are respect, humanism, independence, commitment and pragmatism. It works for a professional world that is fulfilling, inclusive and respectful of people in all their diversity, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. In addition to its role as an observatory, its missions are to support organizations and promote good practices. L’Autre Cercle federates more than 170 public and private organizations that have signed the LGBT+ Charter of Commitment, bringing together nearly 2 million employees and agents.
